The U-318/U is a special purpose, rear mount, jam nut receptacle. Typically used in front panel applications in receiver-transmitters, COMSEC equipment and amplifier mounts. The U-318/U is the mating receptacle for the U-316/U and U-317/U plugs. (Similar to MS3114A12-14S)

The connectors in this category are a series of environment resisting, quick disconnect, miniature, circular connectors that meet the minimum performance requirements of MIL-DTL-26486. These connectors use the same shells and construction as the connectors covered in the standard, but use a special 14-contact arrangement. As with the MIL-DTL-26482 series, the connectors feature bayonet coupling (size 12) shell bodies and fixed solder contacts and are designed to operate across a temperature range of -55º to 125ºC(-67º to 257ºF) and altitudes from sea level to 10,000ft. The typical applications include R-T front panel, amplifier mounts, remote controls, COMSEC equipment, and related cables.
