Telephones
TA-1/PT Telephone Set - Sound powered equipment providing facilities for talking and signaling without batteries. The maximum talking and signaling range of the TA-1( )/PT is 6.4 kilometers (4 miles) over Wire WD-1/TT. This telephone set can be used to advantage in forward areas, in switched networks having magneto signaling switchboards, in closed nets, and in point-to-point circuits. The telephone handset contains sound-powered transmitter and receiver units, a hand generator that is operated by a lever-type switch, and a push-to-talk switch. The user can receive either visual or audible-visual signaling indications during operation.
TA-312/PT Telephone Set - Small, rugged, water-proof, portable field telephone that was designed primarily for operation in the field on a local battery system. However, the telephone will also operate on a common battery signaling system. No longer limited to use with manual switchboards, it can be attached to a tone-signaling adapter TA-955/PT which turns the telephone into a push-button, dial tone, two-wire, common battery subset capable of producing the standard dual tone signals used by military and commercial automatic-switching systems.
TA-838/PT Telephone Set - Rugged, solid-state field telephone designed for use with the tactical automatic switches. It is a two- or four-wire local or common battery set using DTMF tones for signaling. Up to four sets can be bridged across a single four-wire line for extension service.

SWBD Equipment
J-1077A/U Distribution Box - Hard wired (normal through) distribution box used to connect field wire. Traffic capability is 26 two-wire lines. Two J-1077A/Us are required for use during field expedient patching.
SB-22( )/PT Switchboard - Lightweight, tactical, manual (monocord) switchboard that can be rapidly installed to provide field facilities for interconnecting 12 local battery telephone circuits, remote controlled radio circuits, or voice-frequency (VF) teletypewriter circuits. Two SB-22/PTs may be stacked to provide a 29 circuit capability by removing one TA-221/PT (operator's pack) and inserting five TA-222/PTs (line packs). Replacing a line pack with a trunk pack permits one-way ringdown, one-way automatic trunk circuits between the SB-22A/PT and any other switchboard with common battery signaling. Tone-Signaling Adapter TA-997/PT provides the operator with a two-wire push-button tone-signaling capability for interfacing automatic switches without operator intervention.
SB-993( )/GT Switchboard - Light, portable, emergency switchboard capable of handling six local battery telephone lines and is used in forward areas. It requires the use of a local battery or a sound powered telephone set for the operator.
TA-125/GT Terminal Box - Small and lightweight set used at signal center and test points where weatherproof terminations are essential for uninterrupted service. The terminal box is used wherever rapid installation of field wire or cable circuits is required. It also may be used as a main distributing frame for Manual Telephone Switchboards SB-22( )/PT and SB-86/P.

Wire Management Systems

AN/GTM-12 Test Set - Tests CX-4655/G cable assemblies for continuity, insulation resistance and cross talk. It can be used with both AC and DC external power.
WD-1A/TT Field Wire - The WD-1A/TT has two insulated, stranded conductors bonded together to form a paired conductor cable for use in the field with local or common battery sound powered telephone systems. WD-1A/TT replaces WD-1/TT.
WF-16/U Field Wire - The WF-16/U is a two pair field wire for use with the newer tone-signalling field telephone equipment. WF-16/U consists of two individual bonded pairs of stranded field wire twisted together. One pair is color coded brown, the other is olive drab. The o.d. pair has a ridge along the one side to distinguish it at night.
WM-130A Field Cable - A rugged, jacketed cable containing 26 pairs of color-coded, stranded conductors. It provides cable distribution for local telephone lines and circuits when used in Field Cable CX-4566/G.
. CX-4566A/G Cable - A twenty-six pair cable used to provide cable distribution for the local telephone lines and circuits, and interconnecting communication shelters. It is also used in conjunction with distribution boxes and cable CX-4760/U(also available from Tacticom stock). This cable is terminated with universal connector U-187A/G at either end. Sturdy enough for ground or aerial use, it is supplied in standard(250') or modified lengths on RC-435/U.
CX-11230A/G Cable Assembly, Special Purpose - Inter-area coaxial cable. It provides a four-wire cable transmission medium for wideband PCM and Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) carrier systems. Available in 33 meters (100 feet) and .4 kilometers (1/4 mile) lengths. The 33 meter and .4 kilometer lengths can be used in combination to obtain the required length of a transmission line. The CX-11230()/G provides a transmission line for 12-, 24-, and 48-channel TDM-PCM systems and 96-channel XDM-PCM systems.
DR-8( ) Drum Reel - A lightweight, metal drum spool used to lay or recover field wire. It will hold up to 0.4 kilometer (1/4 mile) of Field Wire WD-1/TT or WD-1A/TT and can be mounted on Reel Unit RL-39.
RC-435/U Cable Reel - A lightweight tubular metal reel used to store, transport and install multi conductor Field Cable assemblies, such as CX-4566A/G and CX-11230. It can be mounted on Reel Unit RL-31-E or Reeling Machine RL-207/G.
RC-453B/U Cable Reel - A lightweight tubular metal reel similar to the RC-435/U, it has capacity for longer length field cable assemblies. The RC-453/U can also be mounted on Reel Unit RL-31-E or Reeling Machine RL-207/G.
RL-39 Reel Unit - Chest-type reel having an axle with carrying handles, carrying straps, and a crank for re-winding. Reel Unit RL-39 mounts Spool DR-8-A which has a capacity of .4 kilometer (1/4 MILE) of Field Wire WD-1/TT or WD-1A/TT (Spool DR-8 not included as a component).
RL-31-E Reel Unit - Lightweight, portable, folding A-frame of steel tubing used for paying out and recovering field wire and field cable. The reel unit feature a brake unit for controlling speed during payout, a crank for reeling in wire, a carrying strap, and a divided axle allowing two reels to operate independently.
CE-11 Reeling Equipment - Lightweight portable unit designed to be carried by one person. It consists of Reel Unit RL-39 and a sound-powered telephone handset with case and carrying strap. Reel Unit RL-39 mounts Spool DR-8 having a capacity of .4 kilometer (1/4 MILE) of Field Wire WD-1/TT or WD-1A/TT (Spool DR-8 not included as a component). When Telephone Set TA-1/PT is used, it is carried on the belt.
RL-27-B Axle - Used to lay and recover field wire. The axle has a machined-steel bar (2 1/2 ft.) used for mounting wire reels, and two knurled handles, one removable for mounting Wire Reel RL-159/U on the axle. The axle has roller bearings and is equipped with a removable crank for re-winding wire. The RL-27-B can be carried by two individuals or placed on some improvised mounting.
